Five students from Xaverian College
in Manchester have felt the suffering of their student brothers
in Africa and decided to do some thing to help them.
Mohamed Shakanti, Abdulaziz Belhaj, Sohban
Akhtar, Umair Khan and Kazzir Ali thought of making a sponsored
walk to collect money for the poor students. They started by
deciding the map of the walk which they chosen to be around
Manchester, then advertised the project to their colleagues and
staff in the college. After they got reasonable promise to
support the project they decided to implement the idea.
On April 20, 2005 at 9 am started their walk,
and continued walking until 7 pm.
Next they collected their photos and prepared
a video and still pictures to show them to whom agreed to
sponsor the project. The collection was £425.66.
Since Wafa Relief
mission is to help people in Africa, the students contacted Wafa
Relief to arrange the money to go to needy students in Africa.
On May 12 the students met the general manager of Wafa Relief
and submitted the money to him. The general manger of Wafa
Relief thanked them for their intention and encouraged
them to arrange more activities to help their brothers in
Africa
